Bichon Shih Tzu
Why the Bichon Shih Tzu?
Bichon Shih Tzus are non to low shedding and considered among the best hypo-allergenic breeds, but no dog is truly "allergy-free" to those suffering from acute reactions. If you have allergies and want to find out if these are the dogs for you, we'd encourage you to spend some time with any other "non-shedding" breed. Invite a friend or acquaintances Yorkie, Shih Tzu, Maltese, Bichon, etc to spent the weekend or even a week with you and this will give you a really accurate idea of "hypo-allergenic" is going to work for your specific allergies.
Coat types are varied within the Bichon Shih Tzu and can be silky soft curls or velvety straight coats. We specialize in the rarer straight and wavy coats in both solid and patch coat markings. Non-shedding coats such as these require regular brushing and trips to the groomer in order to remain gorgeous and mat-free. Having a dog that feels like a silken, living teddy bear is well worth the effort!

humans on mountain walks, boat trips, and camping ventures. When it all settles down, it will make their day to curl up on your lap at the fire and beg for a bit of your marshmallow. Not into low level adventuring? Not a problem! The Bichon Shih Tzu is just as happy to be a relaxed house-dweller. We offer both Bichon Shih Tzus and Bichon Shih Tzus with a dash of Yorkie. Yorkie was intentionally added to some of our genetic lines generations ago and its purpose was primarily for size reduction. At this point, the percentage is so minimal that it could be described as a "dash of Yorkie" in their heritage. The crossing of breeds and ongoing careful genetic management has resulted in hardy, healthy dogs that need far fewer trips to the vet than the majority of their pure-bred counterparts.
We were fortunate to get our dogs from Colette Francis of Pooch Palace Kennels, retired Bichon Shih Tzu / Bichon Shih Tzu Yorkie breeder of 30 years. She poured herself into these dogs, carefully breeding them for superior health and temperament. We are so thankful for the work she put in to reduce genetic health issues, focus on color and confirmation and select only the best temperaments to move forward.
I truly believe that it is not possible to find healthier, happier, and better tempered dogs than the ones she created. They are a true testament to the effort she put in and we feel honoured to be using her bloodlines. These dogs have been a huge gift to us and we now feel that we are turning around and offering this gift to others.
